Kelsey's Webkinz Classic Update Wishlist!
{Back to main website page}
Webkinz Classic is finally going to receive major updates again (!), so I've been compiling a list of ideas for what could be added or changed. For this list, I'm trying to focus on the things that aren't super-immediately-obvious, but don't worry, I absolutely *do* want the return of DiceKinz, the ability to delete those annoying room doors, etc.
Here's the list!
- The new clothing "slot types" from Webkinz Next, especially the bracelets and necklaces, are very cute, and I'd love to see them in Classic. To supplement the addition of the jewelry, I'd enjoy a way to craft necklaces/bracelets with the Curio Shop gems, probably via the Clothing Machine.
- I could not spell worth Gunk as a three-year-old, so I'd of course like to add my request for a pet-name-changing option to the pile. However, I am still (to this very day) downright awful at coming up with pet names. Perhaps, when naming or re-naming a pet, there could be a button that gives a random, pre-made suggestion? Probably not specific to the pet's species, but just a list of popular human names, with a few generic animal-names like "Buddy" or "Fluffy" thrown in. This would be a big help for people who can't spell, and for those like me who can't easily think of good names.
- The ability to turn off the Webkinz sound is a popular request, but I'd like to take it further, and suggest a "volume mixer"-type options system like the one in Webkinz Next. That way, for example, one could listen to the music, but not the voices or sound. Also, any chance of the Webkinz in-game soundtrack being added to streaming platforms, alongside the newly-included KinzTunes songs? I'd love to listen to the Cash Cow theme while going on my morning walks :)
- In addition to the often-requested Dock Search, a way to search across rooms/storage-containers would also be very handy.
- The Arcade game Kinzville Pinball, from Webkinz Next, would likely translate over to 2D pretty well, and it's my favorite Next-exclusive game, so I'd love to see it in Classic. Multiple different boards to choose from would be nice, too.
- If the Party Packs are fixed, then in addition to the old party-specific games, like "Pin the Tail on the Donkey", it would be cool to have the Arcade games as party-game options too. The host could pick a game for everyone to play, or there could be a voting system, perhaps? It could work similarily to the Tournament Arena, where all the partiers try to get the top score.
- I've never actually played it, but there used to be an old Tournament Arena game called "Quizzy's WhizKinz". It sounded like a fun game, and I'd totally play it if it was added back.
- This one would likely be a major coding project, but it would be SUPER cool to have a separate "Webkinz Room Designer" application. By which I mean a way to have *all* the Webkinz Classic furniture and decorations, regardless of origin, retirement, etc. at your disposal for creating (not-actually-in-game) rooms. I wouldn't expect this sort of application to be free, of course. In fact, I'd TOTALLY pay real money for it. A similar designing-place for dressing up pets would be great too.
- I love Pet Medallions, but the current exchange rate (10 to 1) is a bit too high. I think around 7 to 1 would be more fair. Also, I think the non-Medallion prizes, such as the flower rug and the beanbag chair, should be swapped out, because they've been there for over six years by now.
- Many games are currently missing from the Tournament Arena, such as the newer ones, and it would be great if they were finally implemented there.
- A "pause" button for the Arcade games would be a very welcome addition, and to prevent cheating in certain games (such as Where's Wacky), the game screen could be obscured/hidden while paused.
- Webkinz has a very rich, interesting history, spanning 20+ years, so a new Quizzy's section dedicated specifically to the history of the Webkinz franchise would be awesome!
Oh, and one more thing: This isn't related to the gameplay, but I'm very curious about the methods used to get Classic back in the browser. Is it HTML5, or Ruffle, or perhaps something else altogether? If a post was to be made on Webkinz Newz, detailing the technology, I'd totally read it. (I'm a huge nerd, so I love that kind of stuff!)
Thanks for reading all of that! :)
